Batch Billing Settings for Vision 7.5 and above

 

There is a new ‘Export Reports as Files’ setting on the Misc tab of General System Settings in Vision Configuration starting in Vision 7.5.  This replaces the old ‘Allow File Save’ option on the webserver.

It should be set to ‘Allow Reports to be Exported to Application Server’.  This should be done as part of the EI installation, but good to double check when troubleshooting.

Without this the pdf files will not show up on the Vision server or in the Project’s Invoice Folder.  You should not see the ‘Save files to the application server’ option in print setup if this is not set, but I have seen it both ways.

 

  1. The web.config is no longer used so I deleted the line that Deltek says should be deleted. You need to go into Deltek, General > System Settings> Misc Tab > set Export reports as files to “Allow Reports to be Exported to Application Servers.
  2. Set the login account to a domain account so it could write to the servers. You cannot use Local System due to permissions.

They should login with a domain account as it needs access to the file server where the invoices are saved by project.  Check the log file for any errors.  It may have not connected properly.

 

Warning: Unlike past Vision upgrades, Vision 7.5 moves its installation directory from the 'Program Files (x86)' folder to the 'Program Files' folder.  This means even if you are upgrading Vision on the same server you used in the past many customizations will need to be reinstalled or reconfigured to work in this new directory.  See Vision’s documentation for more details.

 

For Electronic Invoicing, if using a new Vision server with Vision 7.5 you follow the same steps as a new installation, but if upgrading on an existing server this means you will need to uninstall and then re-run the main installer (exe) after the Vision 7.5 upgrade.  It is possible the installer will not find the Vision installation directory, if that is the case please browse to it and continue the installation.  The services don't have files in the Vision directory so they should not need to be re-installed unless a newer version is needed.  The CCG Invoice Watcher service does have the path to the Vision reports' saved files directory in its configuration file, so that will need to be updated to the new Vision path.
